Erasmus Days 2026: Bridging Academia and the Job Market in Kurdistan and Yemen

This year, the 10th edition of Erasmus Days celebrates the theme “MAKE EUROPE SHINE”, with the tagline “Learning and growing: skills for tomorrow”, in alignment with the European Union’s Union of Skills initiative. Skills are more than ever a driving force behind innovation, resilience, and competitiveness. By investing in education, training, and lifelong learning, the European Union aims to empower people with the knowledge and competences they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

At the heart of this vision, the Erasmus+ programme plays a key role in fostering international cooperation, strengthening higher education, and supporting the development of skills that respond to evolving societal and labour market needs.

On this occasion, the MOVE project is organising a webinar entitled “Assessment of Academia–Job Market Relations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and in Yemen” on October 15th at 10.30 am CET (11.30 am Iraq/Yemen time). The event will provide an opportunity to explore how universities can better align their academic offer with labour market needs, helping students and graduates develop the skills and competences required for their professional futures.

During the webinar, participants will discover the main findings of the MOVE “Report of Academic Offer, Job-Market Needs, Gaps and Good Practices”, a collaborative and joint work by the MOVE consortium, led by the University of Sulaimani and the University of Murcia, being the main coordinators of this publication, with the support of UNIMED, coordinator of the MOVE project.

The session will also present benchmarking insights on Career Development Centres and employment strategies in universities and institutions in Kurdistan region of Iraq and Yemen, highlighting approaches to supporting students and graduates in their transition from education to employment.

Join us in celebrating Erasmus Days 2026 and discover how international cooperation can help bridge the gap between education and employment!

Register now and be part of the conversation!

The event is open to all interested participants, including academics, university representatives, students, graduates, employers, policymakers, and other stakeholders committed to strengthening the links between higher education and the labour market.
